Careers

Our students will succeed in a much different future from the one we envisioned 10 or 15 years ago. It is our responsibility to prepare all children for success in whatever life path they choose, connecting learning opportunities with future career possibilities. We know that real-life experiences - like community involvement, gaining business knowledge, and hands-on-learning - build better students and life-long citizens.

Bakerview boasts a robust career programming and certification offerings. Please visit our instagram account @bakerviewcentreforlearning for upcoming certification and training sessions, upcoming volunteer opportunities, celebrations of certifications, and our updated job board where we share a summary of available job openings from within our community.

Certifications

Bakerview has a focus on developing and enhancing employability skills. We offer certifications to help increase job opportunities for our students. Several times a year we offer courses such as Food Safe, First Aid, Serving it Right, Forklift Operation, Eyelash Application. We also support students with applications to paid work experience programs with community partners. If you are interested in developing your employability skills or your resume, stop in our Counselling Centre to meet with our Careers teacher Seet Gill.

Employment Opportunities

Seet does an amazing job of compiling lists of job opportunities for students in and around our community and posting them on our "Now Hiring" job board (outside the Counselling Centre). If you are looking for a job, let us help you shine up your resume and find a best fit job!

Volunteer Opportunities

At Bakerview, we are committed to providing opportunities for students to develop skills and experience in the work sector that will help with long term employability. We currently have volunteer opportunities for students at organizations such as the Abbotsford Food Bank, the SPCA and the Funny Farm.

Scholarships

Bakerview offers scholarship support for all students to help them achieve their post secondary educational goals. Our Career teacher, classroom teams and school counsellor offer sessions on how to complete scholarship applications. We also offer support for students with District Scholarship applications and project completion. If you have a post secondary educational goal, please book a meeting with our Careers teacher to plan and prepare.
