New Beginnings

The New Beginnings Program provides educational opportunities for expecting or new parents age 16 & up with children (ages birth to under 3 years) for whom onsite daycare is provided. 

Program highlights include:

  • Educational programs with childcare support 
  • Links to supporting local and provincial agencies 
  • Staff - Program Coordinator with support and resource workers, childcare supervisor and childcare staff
  • Graduation Fee: $60

Adult Graduation Program

The B.C. Adult Graduation Diploma, or the “Adult Dogwood” is for learners 18 years of age and older.  Students are eligible to enter the Adult Graduation Program at 18 years of age.

The Adult Dogwood requires 20 credits of study (5 courses), some of which may be obtained through post-secondary courses and recognition of learning through work experience and employment. To find out what credits may qualify towards adult grad requirements, or for further information, email us at bakerview@abbyschools.ca and include your transcript if possible.  If you have attended school in BC you can obtain your transcript HERE.   Adult Dogwood credentials may affect what requirements are needed for post-secondary studies.  Please contact your post-secondary institution for their pre-requisites.

B.C. Certificate of Graduation (Dogwood Diploma)

The B.C. Certificate of Graduation, or Dogwood Diploma, is awarded to students who successfully complete the provincial graduation requirements.

To graduate, students require at least 80 credits total. In addition, students must also complete three Provincial Graduation Assessments: Grade 10 Literacy Assessment, Grade 10 Numeracy Assessment and Grade 12 Literacy Assessment. Contact us at bakerview@abbyschools.ca for further information.
