Careers at Bakerview

We celebrated numerous success stories in the 2018-19 school year at Bakerview Center for Learning.  As we begin a new year, we reflect on these successes and continue to strive to provide opportunities and guidance for students as they explore their future occupational, professional, and employment opportunities.

Last year, 17 students participated in volunteer work experience placements; among these, many obtained paid employment as a result.  Five students participated in a pre-apprenticeship program at Abby Senior, and 4 other students participated in district career programs including Heavy Equipment Operator, Welding, Hairstylist and Health and Human Services.  At the start of this school year, 3 more students are participating in similar district programs, while several others are “pending” for upcoming placements.  Many of our students have also received certification in First Aid, OHS, WHMIS, Fork Lift, Construction Fall Safety and Food Safe.

While the nature of some of the programs and offerings evolve over time, one thing remains constant:  we believe that each student has tremendous potential and we are excited to support them as they explore, expand and exert their potential in the world of work.
