National Skills Canada Competition
Two students from our district headed to the National Skills Canada Competitions in Winnipeg, Manitoba last month. Michael Pearson, District Vice-principal, Career Programs, introduced one of the students to share their experience in the careers program this year.
Yale Secondary – Girls Rugby Provincial Champions
Students from Yale Secondary’s Girls Rugby Team share their exciting season after recently winning the Provincial tournament.
Community Matters Award: Tanya Coghill
The Community Matters Award is presented annually to organizations or individuals who have exceeded their community service mandate and have made a significant, deliberate contribution to Abbotsford School District students. The 2023 Community Award is awarded to Tanya Coghill
Education
Strategic Plan and Budget for 2023-2024
Superintendent Godden and Secretary-Treasurer Velestuk provide an update on the completed Strategic Plan and Budget for 2022-23.
Annual Budget Bylaw for the Fiscal Year 2023-2024
A recommendation was put forward that the Board of Education approve having all three readings of the Annual Budget Bylaw for Fiscal Year 2023/2024 in this one meeting.
New Administrative Procedures (APs)
The Role of the Superintendent requires that the superintendent “inform the Board of Education of changes to administrative procedures and seek approval of any changes made to administrative procedures associated with Board policy.”
Accessible British Columbia Act - Progress Report
Superintendent Godden provided the Board with information about the Accessible British Columbia Act which was passed into legislation.
Operations
Property Disposition Bylaw 85: Margaret Stenersen Elementary - Statutory Right of Ways (FortisBC)
A recommendation was put forward that the Board of Education approve having all three readings of Property Disposition Bylaw No. 85 in this one meeting.
PSO Climate Change Accountability Report 2022
Secretary-Treasurer Velestuk provided the Board with information about the Professional Staff Organization (PSO) Climate Change Accountability for the period January 1 – December 31, 2022.
Board Policy 15 - Student Code of Conduct - Revised
A recommendation was put forward the Board of Education approve revised Board Policy 15 - Student Code of Conduct, as amended.
Proposed Public Board Meeting Schedule for 2023-2024
A recommendation was put forward the Board of Education approve the proposed Public Board Meeting Schedule for 2023-2024 as presented.
