Grad Ceremony Information 

Date: June 13, 2024

Time: 3:30 pm

Location: Abbotsford Arts Centre

2329 Crescent Way, Abbotsford  (next to Abby Senior) 

 

Your grad gown package contains your gown, collar, cap and tassel

  • Hang this gown and collar up when you get home, so the wrinkles come out.  If it’s wrinkled, steam it or hang in it the bathroom so the steam of a hot shower will release the wrinkles. DO NOT use an iron.

  • Wear your gown, collar and cap to the ceremony.  Dress for the weather under your gown.

  • Comfortable shoes are recommended as you will be walking up and down a ramp onto the stage.

  • Please arrive 30 minutes before the Ceremony.

  • When you arrive in the Abby Arts Addition, follow the instructions of staff and line up in alphabetical order.

  • If you win an Abbotsford Community Foundation Award, please share it on social media with hashtag #ACF

2024 Grad Ceremony Process

Each graduate may invite up to 4 guests. Please email danm.village@abbyschools.ca if you are interested in bringing more.

Arriving at the Abbotsford Arts Centre / Lining Up

  1. Parking lot is adjacent to Abbotsford Senior Secondary and will be clear of staff and students by 3:00pm.

  1. We ask grads and guests arrive for 3:00 pm. If you arrive before 3:00 pm, expect some traffic.

  1. Graduates should arrive on site, wearing their cap and gown and make their way to the Abbotsford Centre Addition to line up and prepare for their entrance. Only grads will be admitted into our line up area. 

  1. All guests should make their way into the Abbotsford Centre Auditorium to find their seats.

  1. The ceremony will start promptly at 3:30 pm with grads entering the auditorium in alphabetical order.

Crossing the Stage

  1. A professional photo will be taken as the student crosses the stage, then they will return to their seats until the end of ceremony.  We will message families once photos are ready for pickup. (End of June)

  1. Students will be presented with a School Certificate at the ceremony. Their actual grad diploma will arrive at school in late August. We will message families once it has arrived.

Leaving the Stage / Exiting

  1. At the conclusion of the grad ceremony, grads will be ushered out of the auditorium in alphabetical order.

  1. We ask guests to remain seated, so grads are visible as they exit.

Reception

Immediately following the ceremony, grads and guests are invited to a reception in the Abbotsford Arts Addition (next to the auditorium). There will be opportunities for photos, and light refreshments (dessert platters) will be served.
