Welcome back from Spring Break!
Congratulations to our Student of the Month for February Ashton, and congrats to our Student of the Month for March Emma!
Indigenous Department Update
On April 2nd, Bakerview has a field trip planned to attend the School District's Indigenous Role Model Ceremony. We have two students being honoured as 2025 Indigenous Role Models, Dheja Coghill and Kianna McNeil. We congratulate Dheja and Kiana on their hard work and look forward to celebrating them on April 2nd.
We will be hosting our Elders Lunch this month. Our students will prepare lunch and gifts for our community Elders. We will send more information out once details have been finalized.
We are also offering sessions in April to support students and families apply for First Nations Status, Metis Citizenship, and Inuit Membership. There are ID requirements for these application processes. Interested students or families can reach out to Anna or Sylvia in our Indigenous Department.
Our Friday morning Halq'emeylem language class is expanding and we are now offering mini lessons within classrooms.
Careers Department Update
April is a busy month for our Careers Department! On April 1st the Heavy Equipment Simulator Road Show and on April 29th the Bricklayers Trailer will be on site at BCL. Interested students can sign-up for a one-hour slot with Seet in the Careers office. We are offering our second round of First Aid Certification on April 2&3, Food Safe April 15&16, and Serving It Right April 30& May1st.
April is Resume Blitz Month- all students are encouraged to start updating/developing their resumes and participating students are entered into a gift card prize draw.
